I wasn’t planning on doing an Easter themed blog this week, but the more I tried to write other things, the more my mind kept coming back to Easter. And why wouldn’t I share about the greatest love story every told? My whole blog is centred around love and relationships after all.
Easter is a time where most people take advantage of a super long weekend. Where a few extra kilo’s are added due to the overload of chocolate and big lunches. It’s a time to be with family and friends but most importantly, it's a time to remember the greatest love story every told.
A story of one man who laid down his life for the sake of our own. A story that lives on through the generations, because it’s so much more than just a story. It’s the true account of a man who died on a cross, and then rose again on the third day. He conquered death once and for all, and He did it all for you and I. It’s about a loving God who gave His own son, so that we may live eternally and have relationship with our heavenly father. It's about a love so great that we will never be able t0 comprehend it, yet Christ offers it freely to every singe one of us. It's a love that no earthly relationship will ever be able to reach, yet an incredible example and standard to strive for.
I’m personally forever grateful for the 'Easter Story' because I now get to have a relationship with Christ, and that single relationship helps improve every other relationship in my life. The whole reason Christ died for us, was because of relationship. The fact that Jesus would die so we could have relationship with God, should be a bit of a hint as to how much value we should place on relationships. Whether that’s with your family, friends, or spouse - don’t ever loose focus on the importance of each of those relationships, and especially the importance of your relationship with God.
I found this quote online that said ‘A true relationship is two unperfect people refusing to give up on each other’. I like that. None of us are perfect, but if we continually work on what we have, and never give up, that is what a strong relationship is all about. But how cool to think that a relationship with God is the strongest relationship we could ever have - because He is perfect. He will always be there, and He will never give up on us, no matter how many times we may give up on Him.
I hope you had an incredible Easter, you had some time off with those you love, and you got to spend time to think about and place value on all the incredible relationships you have in your life.
